Health & Safety Policy
Policy statement
Norvica Logistics is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and to preventing injury and ill health arising from our activities. We treat the safety of our employees, contractors, drivers, visitors, and the public as a core operational priority — not something to be traded off against speed or cost. We comply with applicable UAE occupational health and safety law and aim to improve continually.
Scope
This policy covers all Norvica personnel and contractors and all activities and locations under our control — including offices, warehouses, transport operations, and client and partner sites where we work.
Responsibilities
Management provides the resources, organisation, and training to manage safety, ensures that risks are assessed and controlled, and reviews performance. Managers and supervisors implement controls in their areas. Every employee and contractor must work safely, follow procedures, use equipment and protective equipment correctly, avoid putting themselves or others at risk, and report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
Risk assessment
We identify hazards and assess risks for our activities, put proportionate controls in place, and review them whenever the work, the equipment, or the conditions change.
Safe systems of work
We maintain procedures for the principal hazards in our business, including:
- manual handling, and the use of lifting equipment and forklifts;
- loading, securing, and unloading cargo;
- working at height;
- the classification, packing, labelling, documentation, segregation, and handling of dangerous goods in line with IATA, IMDG, and ADR rules as applicable;
- vehicle and road safety — journey planning, vehicle condition, load limits, and the management of driver hours and fatigue;
- warehouse traffic management; and
- the safe use of electrical and other equipment.
Personal protective equipment
Where a risk cannot be eliminated or adequately controlled at source, suitable personal protective equipment is provided and must be used.
Training and competence
Personnel receive induction and task-specific safety training, and only competent, authorised people operate equipment such as forklifts or handle dangerous goods.
Incident reporting and investigation
All accidents, injuries, near misses, and dangerous occurrences must be reported. We investigate to identify the causes and prevent recurrence, and we make any reports required by law.
Emergencies and first aid
We maintain emergency procedures — including fire and spill response — together with means of escape and first-aid provision appropriate to each site.
Contractors and partners
We select carriers, warehouses, and sub-contractors with regard to their safety standards, and we expect them to work to standards consistent with this policy.
Consultation and review
We consult employees on matters affecting their health and safety, and we review this policy at least annually and after any significant incident or change.
